The purpose of this page is to provide both our membership and the interested public the best event driving instructions we have available.  Our "written" driving instructions (below) are directed toward the individual living in or near Atlanta, Georgia. 

However, many of our membership and the general public live outside of the immediate Atlanta area, or even in other states.  To assist this type of individual, we provide a very "simple to use" and comprehensive web based software program called "MAPQUEST".   To access "MAPQUEST" press the button below. BATTLES FOR ATLANTA - (GA INTL HORSE PARK)

From the intersection of I20 and 285 on the east side of Atlanta, take I20 east towards Augusta. Proceed 14 miles to Ga Highway 138. Go north on 138 3.7 miles to Centennial Olympic Parkway NE. Turn right and proceed 2.3 miles to Costley Mill Road NE. Proceed 50 feet to 1996 Centennial Olympic Parkway. Directions to the battle site will be post. These directions came off of the web site maps.excite.com. Please access this web site or the MapQuest site mentioned above for directions from your house. The area is well marked with signs to the horse park and you can't miss the big sign from I20. The address for the park is 1996 Centennial Olympic Parkway NE, Conyers, Georgia 30013.

BATTLE AT BRIDGEPORT

Take I-75 north from Atlanta to the outskirts of Chattanooga. Take I-24 west to exit 152 (Highway 72). Turn south on Highway 72 through the town of Bridgeport, Alabama. South of Bridgeport turn left on County Road 255. Directions to battle site will be posted.

KOLB'S FARM, BATTLE OF - (GREENSBORO, GEORGIA)

From Atlanta, take Interstate 20 east to exit 53. Turn left (north) and drive to Greensboro.   Turn left at the light at Broad Street, which is near the downtown area.   Approximately 1/2 mile will be the Davis Mansion . Follow the registration signs to register.
BLUE SPRINGS, BATTLE OF - (MOSHEIM, TENN.)
From Atlanta, take I-75 NORTH  into Knoxville(approx. 229 mi.), follow I-40 EAST (approx. 35 mi.) to exit #421 - bearing left onto I-81 NORTH.Take I-81 NORTH to Exit #23 (approx. 23 mi. Greeneville, Andrew Johnson exit), down the ramp and right onto Highway 11-EAST.Take 11-EAST towards Greeneville, passing Sam Riley Motors on the right; crossing over Lick Creek; passing the Mosheim Post Office on the left; and descending a long grade - passing Cherokee Lumber on the right.At the bottom of the hill, turn LEFT - passing the Mosheim Masonic Lodge(big white building on your right).You will come to a four-way intersection (which is Blue Springs Parkway)then cross the intersection (look for Amy's Kitchen on your right after you've crossed).As the road comes to another intersection you bear right as if you were going to Bowman Springs Baptist Church. Just past the Baptist Church is John I. Myers farm with a turn-in for the battlefield. There should be signs all the way in from the I-81 as this is a very big event for Greene County.
For those living off I-85 and north of Atlanta, consider this alternative route.  Take I-985 from I-85 north.  I985 turns into U.S. 23.  Follow U.S. 23 into North Carolina.  Near Waynesville, N.C. turn north on U.S. 276 to I-40.   Go west on I-40 into Tennesssee.  Turn north on I-81 and follow the above instructions from that point.
JONESBORO, BATTLE OF - (JONESBORO, GEORGIA)
TAKE I-75 FROM ATLANTA.  EXIT AT THE MORROW EXIT (HIGHWAY 54) AND THEN TURN RIGHT (SOUTH).  JONESBORO IS ABOUT 2.5 MILES FROM THIS EXIT.  ONCE IN TOWN, TURN LEFT AT THE OLD TRAIN DEPOT.  CROSS THE TRACKS AND TURN RIGHT.   FOLLOW THIS ROAD (JODECO ROAD) FOR ABOUT A MILE.   THE BATTLE SITE WILL BE ON THE LEFT BEHIND SUDER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. 
OLUSTEE, BATTLE OF - (LAKE CITY, FLORIDA)
TAKE I-75 SOUTH FROM ATLANTA FOR APPROXIMATELY 3+ HOURS INTO FLORIDA.  AFTER CROSSING THE FLORIDA STATE LINE YOU WILL CONTINUE ON I-75 FOR APPROXIMTELY 30+ MINUTES PASSING I-10.  CONTINUE ON I-75 TO THE LAKE CITY EXIT.  GO EAST FROM THE EXIT TO LAKE CITY.  CONTINUE THROUGH LAKE CITY APPROXIMATELY 15 MILES.  OLUSTEE BATTLE SITE WILL BE ON THE LEFT.
STONE MOUNTAIN PARK - (STONE MOUNTAIN, GEORGIA)
TAKE THE I-285 BELTWAY TO THE EAST SIDE OF ATLANTA.  TAKE EXIT 30-B GOING EAST ON I-78 TOWARD STONE MOUNTAIN PARK.   EXIT AT THE STONE MOUNTAIN EAST EXIT.  IF YOUR A MEMBER OF THE 42ND GEORGIA, TELL THE GUARD AT THE GATE THAT YOU ARE A MEMBER OF THE 42ND GEORGIA AND YOU ARE THERE FOR A CIVIL WAR ENCAMPMENT AND DRILL.  THEY WILL THEN ASK YOUR NAME AND ALLOW YOU TO ENTER FOR FREE.   CONTINUE STRAIGHT ACROSS TWO BRIDGES AND TURN LEFT AT THE ANTEBELLUM HOMES.   THE 42ND WILL EITHER BE CAMPED AT THE ANTEBELLUM AREA OR IMMEDIATELY BEHIND THE LARGE WHITE ANTEBELLUM HOME WITHIN THE AREA.
FOP LODGE - (STONE MOUNTAIN, GEORGIA)

FROM:  I-285, TAKE HWY 78 (THE STONE MOUNTAIN FREEWAY) EAST BOUND TO THE VILLAGE OF STONE MOUNTAIN EXIT.   GET OFF AT THAT EXIT AND CONTINUE UNTIL YOU REACH A TRAFFIC LIGHT.  THIS TRAFFIC LIGHT WILL BE MEMORIAL DRIVE ON ONE SIDE AND GOLDSMITH ROAD ON THE OTHER.    TURN TO THE LEFT  ONTO MEMORIAL DRIVE.     RIDGE AVENUE IS THE LAST STREET JUST BEFORE YOU GET TO THE TRAIN OVER PASS.      TURN LEFT ONTO RIDGE AVENUE AND FOLLOW IT TO THE DEAD END.    THE LODGE IS AT THE DEAD END OF THE STREET.    IF YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS, CONTACT RIC PALMER (770) 985-4684.   IF YOU GET LOST ON THE WAY, THE NUMBER TO THE LODGE IS (770) 879-0557.  CALL AND WE WILL GIVE YOU FURTHER DIRECTIONS OR SEND SOMEONE TO GET YOU.
