Letters of Captain Benjamin P. Weaver,
42nd Georgia Company B Information provided by Donna Cloud of Cumming, Georgia, Helen Weaver Brown of Auburn,
Alabama, and Marilyn Mauldin Lee of Decatur, Georgia; all descendants of
Captain Weaver
In late July, 2006, I was contacted by Donna Cloud, seeking more
information on Captain Benjamin Weaver of the 42nd Georgia, Company
B. She is his great great grandaughter. Unfortunately, she had all of the same information
that I did. But she had a lot more. In email conversations, Donna
indicated that she had transcribed copies of letters written by Captain Weaver through November 1864.
Captain Weaver was wounded in the Battle of Frankin on November
30th, and died the next day. Donna sent me copies of these letters
that she and Helen Brown had and provided me a copy of a photograph
of Captain Weaver. Upon reading the letters, it really adds a personal touch to life in the 1860s and the hardships that these gentlemen went through. Many thanks to both Donna Cloud and Helen Weaver Brown for sharing this information with us. It is most appreciated. I hope that you will enjoy these letters as much as I have. Rick Fallaw |
